Return of fuel excise could add €10 to the cost of a tank

Industry groups have called for either a staggered or deferral to the reintroduction of excise duties on petrol and diesel.

The AA estimates that the cessation of the duties on petrol and diesel at the end of February will increase fuel prices by 15 cents per litre for diesel and 20 cents per litre for petrol, leading to an average increased cost of €10 per tank of fuel.
