More people than ever are seeking treatment for drug addictions, the head of the country’s largest rehab facility has said.
Pauline McKeown, chief executive of Coolmine Therapeutic Community, said many of the addictions had developed during the Covid-19 lockdowns.
She said she anticipated that the numbers of those seeking treatment in the coming months would increase as inflationary pressures and the rising cost of living pushed people into social deprivation.
