Rate of problem gambling likely ‘underestimated’ in Ireland - ESRI
Review identified approximately 12,000 problem gamblers in Ireland
The impact of problem gambling in Ireland, and the harm it can cause, has “probably been underestimated”, new research from the Economic and Social Research Institute (ESRI) has said.
A review of problem gambling in Ireland said an estimated 12,000 adults in Ireland have been recorded as problem gamblers.
The review was commissioned through the Department of Justice and its implementation team tasked with the creation of a new Gambling Regulatory Authority of Ireland.
