Price of fuel, cigarettes increase overnight as Budget 2024 measures take effect

The cost of fuel and cigarettes have increased in price overnight as the first of Budget 2024 measures to come into force.

€1.28 and €1.48 were added to the cost of a 60-litre fill of petrol and diesel respectively under increases to the carbon tax, which will see the current carbon tax rate increase by €7.50 to €56 per tonne.
