Press Council warns of ‘great’ challenges facing print media
Press regulator said loss of trust in RTÉ must not ‘afflict’ all media outlets
Susan McKay, the Press Ombudsman, has encouraged politicians to “seriously consider” using her office to pursue complaints against newspapers as a “powerful alternative” to launching legal action.
In her speech at the launch of the Annual 2022 report of the Press Council of Ireland and the Office of the Press Ombudsman - which outlined the “very great financial challenges facing the press” - McKay said that everyone was “entitled to go to law”.
