Magnier loses millions

John Magnier’s bloodstock empire Coolmore doesn’t have a whole lot of hard luck stories in its history, but it has found itself nursing a loss that the racing media has valued at around €18 million.

If short-priced favourite Storm Boy had won the Golden Slipper at Rosehill Gardens Racecourse in Sydney last month, he would have doubled in value to AU$60 million, around €36 million.
