Planning authority to pay up to €550 for each land hoarding tax appeal processed to clear backlog

An Bord Pleanála is faced with missing deadlines for more than 500 urgent appeals lodged by landowners who are contesting the government’s new land hoarding tax.

The body is drafting in ‘fee-per-case’ advisors, paid up to €550 per appeal, in a bid to get through the large backlog.
