Pfizer weighs up Irish job cuts as part of a planned $3.5bn cost-cutting programme

Pfizer, the US pharma giant, may seek to cut jobs from its Irish operations as demand for vaccines and other key drugs made here has slumped this year.

The drug-maker employs around 5,000 people in Ireland where it operates from five locations. However, the company has dramatically lowered sales forecasts for both its Covid vaccine and its antiviral Paxlovid in recent days, according to a report in today’s Irish Times.
