Pfizer to cut 100 jobs at Irish plant – but signals 230 new jobs in other locations

Pfizer is laying off around 100 manufacturing staff at its plant in Newbridge, Co Kildare, as part of a global round of job cuts aimed at saving billions of dollars.

The pharmaceutical giant told staff at the plant – where 1,200 people work – of the news this afternoon, having indicated in recent weeks it planned to cut jobs amid declining demand for its Covid-19 Paxlovid medication.
