An Bord Pleanála has refused permission for the proposed development of an LNG terminal and energy park on the Shannon estuary in Co. Kerry.

Shannon LNG had been seeking permission for the €650 million development, including a 600 megawatt (MW) power plant and LNG terminal at the site near Tarbert. An Bord Pleanála’s decision found that it would be inappropriate to approve any LNG terminal in Ireland at this time.
