‘People must decide do they want a puppet or a President’ – Michael D Higgins

Michael D Higgins has defended his recent utterances on political issues saying the people of Ireland must decide if they want a 'puppet or a President'.

Speaking to Irish reporters in Rome on Friday night, Higgins said he has a responsibility to speak on behalf of the Irish people.

Higgins moved to defend his outspoken views and said he should be able to speak out.
