The Ryan Tubridy secret payments scandal has created "one of the most shameful and damaging episodes in the organisation's history”, RTÉ’s new Director General Kevin Bakhurst has told the Dáil’s spending watchdog.
In his opening statement to the Public Accounts Committee, Bakhurst said that RTÉ should not be brokering or facilitating commercial arrangements with its contractors. “The level of fees in contracts of this nature are too high,” he said.
