Patient-led screening reviews the right approach, says cancer expert

A controversial government plan to require cancer patients to request details of their screening history is the correct approach, a leading expert has said.

Under the Patient Safety Bill, patients who develop cancer after undergoing screening will be granted full disclosure of their screening history if they request a review. Programme-wide audits of screening programmes will be anonymised, however, and not subject to open disclosure.
