Paschal Donohoe has said he is open to capping future RTÉ exit packages in the wake of revelations that former executives at the national broadcaster were paid hundreds of thousands of euro for leaving the organisation.

Separately, Kevin Bakhurst, the director general at the embattled national broadcaster, said that placing limits on payments to outgoing senior staff is something his executive team “will look at”.

The comments come after Catherine Martin, the media minister, told the Business Post that she was open to considering capping the amount that high earners at RTÉ could leave with.
