There are currently no signs in the Irish economy that “greedflation” – a term for companies exploiting the idea that the cost of doing business is higher to create excessive profits – is driving high levels of inflation, Paschal Donohoe has said.

The Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform said on Tuesday that the government is monitoring corporate profits “very, very closely” to mitigate against companies increasing their prices under the guise of inflation.
