The slow pace of the rollout of the National Broadband Plan is “inspiring pessimism” in the multi-billion-euro project, the Dáil has heard in a debate on the plan.

The rollout of the network has so far lagged far behind target with about 35,000 premises passed to date out of an initial target of 115,000 by the end of this month and a revised target of 60,000.
