Online fraudsters con consumers out of €8.6m in first half of 2023

Businesses and consumers are being urged to be vigilant amid increased reports of fraudsters operating under the branding of known firms

Irish consumers were conned out of €8.6 million by criminals operating fraudulent websites in the first half of last year, new figures have shown, as reports of investment scams are on the rise.

Businesses are also being urged to be aware of online scams amid increased reports of fraudsters using the names and branding of known firms to target consumers.
