One year later, thousands of frontline staff left waiting for Covid bonus payment

The €1,000 bonus, announced in January 2022, has been approved for just over a third of non-HSE bodies

Only one in three organisations that employ frontline workers have had their application for a €1,000 pandemic bonus payment approved, almost a year after it was promised by the government.

Only 37 per cent of applications from the organisations that employ carers, home assistants, Dublin Fire Brigade paramedics and members of the defence forces have had their claims for the recognition payment approved, according to a letter from the HSE sent this week.
