One-third of people in Ireland between the ages of 35-44 will not own a home by the time they retire, while half of those aged 25-34 in the country will likely never become homeowners, a report by a leading Irish economic think tank found.

Research published by the Economic and Social Research Institute (ESRI) indicated that future cohorts of retirees are likely to have “substanially lower rates of homeownership” than current retirees.
