One in three workers have no private pension

The rate of private pension coverage improved slightly in 2023 compared to a year earlier, according to the Central Statistics Office

For those workers with no occupational pension coverage from their current employment, half of workers stated that their employer does not offer a pension scheme.

A third of workers aged from 20 to 69 will be dependent on the state pension in retirement as they are currently without private cover, new figures show.

The Central Statistics Office (CSO) on Monday revealed that just 68 per cent of workers have a private pension, a slight improvement on the 66 per cent rate a year earlier.
