OFX eyes up acquisitions in bid to grow Irish presence

The Australian company is looking to acquire Irish fintech and payments firms as well as more well-established foreign exchange businesses

Skander Malcolm, chief executive, OFX: ‘Our focus at the moment in Europe is Ireland and Germany . . . There’s so much headroom in both of those markets for us’

OFX, the Australian money transfer and foreign exchange firm, is eyeing up strategic acquisition opportunities in Ireland as it seeks to grow its presence here.

The financial services firm, which migrated its European headquarters from London to Dublin last year due to Brexit, said it is looking to acquire Irish companies that operate in the fintech and payments space as more well-established foreign exchange businesses, if the right opportunity presents itself.

“We’d love to do an acquisition here if we could find a good one,” Skander Malcolm, chief executive of OFX, told the Business Post.
