Offshore wind division to be set up at energy regulator

A new division of the utilities regulator is to be established to deal specifically with offshore wind energy, the chair of the Commission of Regulation of Utilities (CRU) has said.

Aoife MacEvilly was appearing in front of the Oireachtas Committee on Environment earlier today to discuss Ireland’s energy security. She warned that delays in building new grid infrastructure and planning delays were threatening Ireland’s ability to deliver on its ambitious electricity carbon reduction targets.
