Clare Lombardelli, chief economist at the OECD, will join the Bank of England as a deputy governor later this year.

Replacing the long-serving Ben Broadbent, Lombardelli will take up the new role in July for a five-year term with responsibility for overseeing the implementation and oversight of monetary policy.

She will also take charge of any reforms necessary in the wake of former Federal Reserve chairman Ben Bernanke's review of the bank's forecasting process, announced last July.
