Number of new cars licensed in August jumps year on year – CSO

The number of new cars licensed in August jumped by 27 per cent or 2,386 vehicles compared to the same month last year, according to the Central Statistics Office (CSO).

A total of 11,328 new private cars were licensed here last month, compared to 8,942 in August 2022.

Volkswagen (1,543) was the most popular make of new private car licensed last month, followed by Hyundai (1,334), Toyota (1,175), Skoda (973), and Kia (790).
