‘No sense’ in suggestion that women will be worse off with auto-enrolment pensions

Officials have said it is crucial that the new system, which has been delayed for years, is up and running by 2024

There is “no sense” in the suggestion that the new auto-enrolment pensions system will leave women worse off than men, a senior state official has said.

Several prominent companies have suggested auto-enrolment will not provide cover for women taking time off to have children.

Legal & General Investment Management, one of the UK’s largest investment firms, warned that this could leave women worse off than men who don’t have gaps in their contributions.
