No role for RTB in regulating short-term lets after disagreement with Fáilte Ireland over new system

The Residential Tenancies Board will play no role in the crackdown of short-term lets in Ireland following disagreement with the state’s tourism development body.

Under Housing Minister Darragh O’Brien’s landmark Housing for All plan, a register for short-term lets in Ireland, operated by Fáilte Ireland and enforced by the RTB, was to be set up as part of new regulatory controls for the sector in order to bring accommodation back into the long-term housing market.
