Ireland has been criticized for not making progress with recommendations made a year ago to reduce legal costs, according to a new report from the European Commission.

The EU’s fourth annual Rule of Law report also criticized Ireland for failing to make significant changes to the Judicial Appointments Commission Bill, which would reform the system for the appointment of judges. The bill was passed in the Seanad yesterday.
