National Broadband Ireland sets 2050 target for Net Zero

Company behind multi-billion-euro plan issued its first sustainability report

National Broadband Ireland (NBI) has committed to becoming net zero by 2050 and being carbon neutral for its direct and indirect operations by 2035.

The company, which is bringing high-speed fibre-to-the-home network under the national broadband plan, issued the targets in its first annual sustainability report.

NBI said in 2022 its scope 1 and scope 2 emissions were over 400 tonnes and this had fallen to 200 tonnes in 2023. The company’s primary source of ...
