Housing building in Ireland last year hit its highest level since the Celtic Tiger with more than more than 32,000 new homes completed.

Of that, more than 10,000 were finished off in the last three months of the year, new figures show, a rise of 13 per cent on the period in 2022.

The acceleration in house building here comes despite a wider downturn in construction across Europe.
