Micheál Martin wants patent referendum delayed for ‘proper preparation’

Martin claimed the proposal was not due to the overwhelming defeats of the family and care referendums, but because the public needed ‘proper’ explanation

Tánaiste Micheál Martin has said he would support a postponement of the upcoming patent referendum to allow “proper preparation and explanation to the public”.

It comes as Peter Burke, the minister for enterprise, has confirmed to the Business Post that he will bring a memo to cabinet on Tuesday proposing a change to the timing of the referendum.
