Mica engineers can’t get insurance cover for work on €3bn redress scheme

Insurers are refusing to offer guarantees to engineers working on the state’s €3 billion mica redress scheme, meaning many are reluctant to work for homeowners impacted by defective blockwork.

Engineers Ireland has warned that engineers who are approved to assess houses under the defective blocks grant scheme are struggling to get professional indemnity insurance, without which they cannot practise.
