Peter McVerry Trust has claimed €15 million in emergency funding from the government as Darragh O’Brien, the housing minister, prepares to appoint new independent board members to the charity.

The housing and homeless organisation sought the emergency funding late last year following revelations of financial difficulties.

O’Brien got cabinet approval shortly before Christmas for a €15 million emergency bailout package to rescue the charity with payments to be made on a phased basis.
