Max Schrems added to Meta’s €1.2bn case against Ireland’s data watchdog

Case relates to Meta’s appeal over the DPC’s decision to fine Facebook a record €1.2 billion and to halt data transfers from Europe to the US

A privacy campaigner has been joined to Meta’s €1.2 billion case against the Data Protection Commissioner after a High Court judge ruled that he was “uniquely and directly” affected by the proceedings.

Max Schrems, an Austrian activist and lawyer, was entitled to be joined as a notice party to the case, Mr Justice Michael Quinn said.
