Markets wrap: Irish stocks retreat as global traders mull US credit rating downgrade

Dublin’s Iseq retreated on Wednesday as shares in Permanent TSB dropped sharply even as the lender issued a robust trading update.

The index was down by around half a per cent since open, as trading moderates after jumping to a 16-year high last week.

The slight drop in Dublin trading came as indices in the US also slowed, amid concerns in that market over a steeper yield curve.
