Males ‘significantly’ more likely to want to take over the family business – study

A new report has found that male family members feel a ‘significantly higher’ degree of ‘psychological ownership’ of the family business.

Male family members are more likely to intend to be the successor in family businesses than their female counterparts, a new DCU study has found.

The research also found that male family members feel a “significantly higher” degree of “psychological ownership” of the business.

Almost half (48 per cent) of 375 respondents have seriously thought about taking over their family’s business one day, with 40 per cent having have strong intentions to become a successor.
