Lynchian development as director hits Cannes in avatar-format

Legendary film director David Lynch will be at the Cannes Film Festival next month, only just not in person. Xavatar, a Co Kerry-based start-up which develops real-time customisable avatars, is creating a virtual doppelgänger of the movie maker, allowing him to appear at the event.

The Cannes panel will be a live production, demonstrating the company’s real-time animation capability with Lynch and other well-known celebrities beaming in as’ Xavatars’ in the start-up’s specially designed metaverse. Planet ...
