Lufthansa reaches pay agreement with ground staff

The deal will cover about 25,000 staff and came after they had staged walkouts in recent months leading to disruption for customers

German carrier Lufthansa has reached an agreement with ground staff over pay, according to reports on Thursday.

The Verdi union, which was representing ground staff at the airline, was demanding a 12.5 per cent pay increase over 12 months as well as a €3,000 inflation bonus.

Lufthansa was said to have offered a 10 per cent pay increase over 28 months and the inflation bonus, according to stockbrokers Goodbody.
