Lower export demand hits manufacturing sector – report

Export sales resumed their downward trend in September

New orders in the manufacturing sector fell at the fastest pace so far this year in September, according to the latest AIB Ireland Manufacturing PMI.

Subdued global demand conditions and customer destocking were factors holding back new business intakes, according to the survey.

As a result, export sales resumed their downward trend in September, largely driven by falling spending by European clients.
