Rhona Togher and Eimear O’Carroll, the co-founders of Lios, a Dublin-based technology business, has been nominated in the SME category of the European Inventor Award.

Irish finalists at the event, which is run by the European Patent Office, are rare with Jane Ní Dhulchaointigh, founder of Sugru, the only previous winner from Ireland, winning the SME category in 2018.

Lios develops lightweight sound absorption material called SoundBounce that has applications ranging from aiding tinnitus sufferers to protecting the payloads of space rockets.
