Levy on international banks ditched by government over fears of legal action

International banks are no longer subject to the bank levy due to concerns within government over possible legal action.

The government has also decided not to proceed with an extension of the levy in Budget 2024 to non-bank lenders due to similar concerns and the effect the move could have on mortgage holders with those firms.
