Levy on blocks will delay social homes, says housing charity

Society of Chartered Surveyors Ireland estimates that the levy will add up to €4,000 to the cost of a regular semi-detached home

The new levy on concrete blocks will cause some delay to social housing projects, one of the leading providers of public homes in Ireland has said.

Niamh Randall, spokesperson for Respond, which builds hundreds of homes annually and commenced construction of more than a thousand homes since the beginning of 2020, said the levy will delay some of its schemes.
