Lease of 16 uninsured vehicles by troubled fisheries body only came to light after road traffic accident, Dáil committee told

Sixteen vehicles leased by Inland Fisheries Ireland (IFI) in 2021 were driven without insurance, which only came to light after one of the vehicles was involved in a road traffic accident.

The troubled fisheries body appeared before the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) on Thursday where TDs heard that the lack of insurance was due to an administrative error, according to Seamus McCarthy, the Comptroller and Auditor General (C&AG).
