Laura Brien to be appointed chief executive of Maritime Area Regulatory Authority

Laura Brien is to be appointed chief executive of the Maritime Area Regulatory Authority (Mara) and the agency is to be formally established on July 17, in plans being signed off by cabinet today.

Brien is currently chief executive of the Health Insurance Authority, but will take up her role with the new maritime agency this July, alongside chair Mark Mellett, the former head of the Defence Forces.
