Lakeland Dairies completes acquisition of Belgian butterfat business in ‘show of strength’

The Cavan-based dairy co-op is buying out De Brandt to expand their geographical reach and product portfolio

Lakeland Dairies, the farmer-owned dairy co-op based in Co Cavan, has completed the acquisition of De Brandt, a Belgian dairy firm specialising in the production of butterfat.

Family-run De Brandt, which is led by chief executive Herman De Brandt, is based in Dendermonde, about 30 kilometres from Brussels, and was founded over 100 years ago.
