Labour productivity down 2.3 per cent in final quarter of 2023

The Central Statistics Office figures show a quarterly reduction in overall productivity, and a significant drop in the multinational sector

Labour productivity dropped 2.3 per cent in the final three months of 2023, according to new data from the Central Statistics Office (CSO).

This meant an overall productivity rate of €97.10 an hour for every Irish worker. There was a significant gulf between labour productivity in the domestic sector and foreign sector, at €53.80 and €381 an hour respectively.
