KBC to permanently shut almost all of its Irish branches today

The lender is retreating from the Irish market and has sold most of its assets here

KBC is closing all but one of its bank branches across the country today.

Some 11 of the company’s 12 outlets across Galway, Limerick, Cork, Waterford, Kildare and Dublin will shut at 5pm today and not reopen.

The move is part of KBC’s withdrawal from the Irish market, with the lender giving months of notice that the branches were due to close.
