Jack Chambers, the minister of state in the Department of Transport, has taken aim at a recent deal to boost Europe’s airspace capacity, cut flight costs and reduce carbon emissions - describing the agreement as a form of “protectionism”.

Speaking from Brussels, the Fianna Fáil junior minister highlighted the importance of aviation to Ireland and said he was “very disappointed” by the “piecemeal” agreement, known as Single European Skies 2+.
