Irish manufacturers warn of further cost increases as hiring is forecast to slow sharply
The 2023 Manufacturing Report from Ibec shows companies are still worried about cost inflation and are planning to hire less staff this year
Irish manufacturers are warning that operating costs will continue to rise with most expecting further increases in the cost of raw materials, labour, transport and energy over the coming year.
Over 70 per cent of Irish manufacturers expect to see further upward pressure on wages this year, while over 50 per cent of companies expect to see further increases in the cost of materials such as steel, plastic and packaging.
