Irish Independent publisher Mediahuis to cut up to 55 roles

Mediahuis, the publisher of the Irish Independent and Sunday Independent, has told staff that the company is seeking to lay off 50 to 55 staff through a voluntary severance scheme, the Business Post has learned.

Details of the redundancy scheme were explained to staff at a meeting this morning by Peter Vandermeersch, the chief executive of Mediuahuis Ireland.

Staff were told the scheme would be a voluntary programme at first.
