The former chief executive of Bord na Móna went on to forge a hugely successful career in private industry that earned O’Connor a vast fortune
Eddie O’Connor, the hugely successful Irish entrepreneur and former chief executive of Bord Na Móna, has died at the age of 76.
A native of Co Roscommon, O’Connor was a titan in the Irish energy sector having built and sold multiple successful companies. An engineering graduate from UCD, O’Connor started his career with ESB before eventually taking the top job at Bord Na Móna in 1987.
